MOULD

Update - I don't think it was eating the paper, I checked back at the slime mould collective and apparently they don't really go for cellulose (which is what enables you to be able to grow them on paper). It was a bit of a slow starter but now it's truly going for it. This is how it looked after three days or so. Now it's truly going for it now that I've added some more oats, just waiting now to re-home it in a lovely acrylic case. Perhaps not surprisingly, the damp, warm, nutritious conditions have attracted a few other mouldy critters - the original oat pile has now a coverering of speckled blue duts and a very fine hair-like structure growing over it. I wondered if the slime-mould was capable of eating the other mould so I left it there for a few days, but so far the two seem to be co-existing without one trying to eat the other. However, I'll probably still need to remove the other mould as I don't really want it to be in there. I also had the joy of having to write something resembling and artists statement last night so that the web development team for the show have something to add to our online bio's. I think I finally finished at around 2:45am last night...sometimes you need the sun to be gone to get certain parts of your brain working it seems.
